It is my privilege as Chairperson of the Midland Connemara Pony Breeders to be associated with the relaunch of our new Website.
At the outset I must firstly acknowledge the enormous effort and time that has been committed by both Liz Sugar and Ruth Rogers to the formation of this site.
Of course if it were not for the untimely and unfortunate passing of my predecessor Sarah Miller I would not have the honour of this task. In this regard I would like to express my personal condolences to her immediate family.
It would be remiss of me at this point not to recognise the innovation, enthusiasm and progress that was contributed by the late Sarah , Sean Dunne and Gerard Mahon, all former Chairpersons.
During each of their term many innovations came to fruition including many informative seminars, workshops, stallion parade, social events and last but possibly the greatest of all our now highly respected Annual show. The knowledge and integrity displayed by all people who have judged for us in the past has greatly contributed to the popularity of our show for both exhibitors and spectators.
I am very conscious that had it not been for the magnificent support we received from Connemara pony lovers from all parts of the island, we would not have been so successful.
In this regard on behalf of all our breeders, I must express our absolute appreciation to the parent society and all its members who have supported all our activities in a most honourable and spirited way.
As we look forward to this year’s show, which again takes place in Tullamore on July 27th, I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all exhibitors and spectators. Once again we are pleased to host the All Ireland Brood Mare Championship, which to date has encouraged some of the best breeding stock in the country all competing for the prestigious Lady de Vesci Cup. Our performance and ridden classes have been gaining significant momentum since our first show and the Future Performance class has now become a highly respected national event. We are greatly indebted to the Irish Horse Board who have given us much support in so many ways and we look forward to their continued participation.
As an organisation it is our policy and objective to promote fairness, honesty and integrity at all times. Where actions or activities occur within our organisation that are not in accordance with our stated ethos, we shall endeavour to rectify as soon it is brought to our attention.
In conclusion can I pledge our continued support to our Parent Society and all the International societies? My thanks also to the members who voted for me at our A.G.M.. It is a great honour to be chosen for this role. I would also like to extend my gratitude to all committee members, past and present.
May I welcome you all to our new web site and invite any suggestions or comments that you feel may be of assistance.
