Sunshine and Ponies
A record entry, blue skies and warm sunshine all contributed to making the 5th Annual Championship Show a memorable day

We were honoured to have Lord de Vesci with us to present the Lady de Vesci Perpetual Cup to the All Ireland Broodmare Champion - James Leahy’s Moorland Lady Jane (Boden Park Finnard/Star Bright) Lord de Vesci enjoyed reminiscing about his mother and her passion for the Connemara Pony.

The Supreme Championship was a ‘home win’ when Banks Vanilla (Teglstrup Duke/Squara) owned by Sean Dunne took the trophy. Reserve was Ciaran Curran’s Coosheen Stormboy (Cloonisle Cashel/Scarteen Mistral).

Glencarrig Rose (Coosheen Stormboy/April Rose) and owned by Gearoid Curran took the Junior Championship with Robbie Fallon’s Cashel Bay Clancy (Cashel Bay Prince/Grey Molly) standing Reserve

The stallion class generated some lively ringside discussion as the final line up saw only one of the initial top three line up remaining. The day went to Coosheen Stormboy (Cloonisle Cashel/Scarteen Minstral) and owned by Ciaran Curran. A successful day for the Curran’s with young Patrick winning the Best Handled/Mannered Connemara Pony class.
The day also saw the inaugural presentation of the Sarah Miller Memorial Trophy - a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of the Sarah Miller Future Performance Connemara Pony class. This first winner was Grey Victory owned by Lorli Higgins and ridden by Alice Higgins.
